July's 5.4
magnitude earthquake is a stark reminder of the
potential disasters all of us face in Southern
California and the
critical
importance of being prepared.
Please,
Make sure you have an emergency kit in your
home, car, and at work.
Make sure you know what to do during, and after,
an earthquake; and
Make sure you have a plan to account for and
communicate with your
family.
Need help doing these important things?
Then download this guide from the LA Fire
Department on Emergency
Preparedness:
http://www.lafd.org/eqbook.pdf
. Also attached are two additional
handouts on
developing a plan and putting together an
emergency kit.
Want to buy an emergency kit rather than put one
together? Then check
out

or any of the numerous disaster kits
available online.
